Start Early: Mehrangarh Fort (8:00–10:30 AM)
Jodhpur's crown is best done before the heat and crowds. Reach the fort gate by 8 AM, take the lift up if you want to save your knees, and walk the ramparts for the classic blue-city panorama. The museum needs 60–90 minutes if you actually read the displays — the palanquins and the royal cradles are worth slowing down for.
Jaswant Thada & the Blue Lanes (11:00 AM–12:30 PM)
A five-minute drive below the fort, Jaswant Thada's white marble glows in late-morning light. From here, ask your driver to drop you at the edge of the old city and walk the blue lanes towards the Clock Tower — the stretch behind Navchokiya is the most photogenic and least touristy.
Lunch & Umaid Bhawan (1:00–3:30 PM)
Eat near Sardar Market — a proper Rajasthani thali or the famous mirchi bada and mawa kachori. Post lunch, drive up to Umaid Bhawan Palace: part museum, part living palace, part hotel. The vintage car collection in the museum courtyard is a quiet highlight.
Evening: Toorji Ka Jhalra & Market (4:30–6:30 PM)
End at Toorji Ka Jhalra, the restored 18th-century stepwell — golden hour here is genuinely special. Then wander Sardar Market for spices, mojris and bandhej fabric before your cab takes you home or to the station.
