Best Time to Visit Rajasthan: An Honest Month-by-Month Guide

Blue City Taxi 2 July 2026 6 min read

Peak winter magic, underrated monsoon greenery, and how to survive (even enjoy) a summer trip — a no-fluff seasonal guide for planning your Rajasthan tour.

October to March: The Classic Season

This is Rajasthan at its best — days in the low-to-mid 20s, cold desert nights, and a packed festival calendar (Pushkar Fair in November, Desert Festival in Jaisalmer around February). Book cabs and desert camps early for December–January; it's the busiest window of the year.

April to June: Hot, But Not Hopeless

Yes, it's hot — 40°C+ afternoons in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer. But mornings and evenings are workable, hotel rates drop, and Mount Abu turns into the state's escape hatch. If you travel in summer, sightsee 7–11 AM and 4–7 PM, and make sure your vehicle has strong AC (all of ours do).

July to September: The Green Secret

Monsoon is Rajasthan's most underrated season. Udaipur's lakes fill up, the Aravallis turn green around Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur, and crowds vanish. Rain is sporadic rather than constant — carry an umbrella and you'll be fine. Photographers love this window.

Festival Calendar Worth Planning Around

Pushkar Camel Fair (Nov), Jaisalmer Desert Festival (Feb), Jodhpur's Marwar Festival (around Oct), Gangaur in Jaipur (Mar/Apr) and Teej (Aug). Festival weeks mean fuller hotels and higher demand for cabs — lock your vehicle early.

Our Honest Recommendation

First-timers: November or February. Budget travellers: July–September. Photographers: monsoon or late January light. Whenever you come, a private cab with a local driver smooths out the season's rough edges — cold mornings, hot afternoons or a surprise shower.
